Grover is a sweet, elderly beagle mix who was originally brought to the Virginia Beach SPCA shelter to be euthanized. His owner had experienced hardship and Grover’s care became too much for him. VBSPCA veterinarian Dr. Ann Marie Woyma told us, “Despite this, Grover had a sparkle in his eye and we wanted to try to save him, rather than euthanize him.” The day after his arrival at the clinic, he underwent full mouth extractions, meaning every one of his teeth had to be removed. Dr. Woyma shared, “This is a lengthy and dangerous procedure for an animal in such bad shape, but with VETIGEL, we minimized the blood Grover lost during the procedure and he not only survived, but did very well in recovery.”   

Grover did so well, in fact, that mere hours after having all of his teeth removed, he ate two whole cans of dog food and kept asking for more! Now, Grover is in a foster home recovering. His mouth has healed and his skin is improving. He is a sweet boy who loves laying in the sunshine and being around other dogs. Grover can’t wait to find a forever home of his own to live out his golden years!
