How VETIGEL Supported Luna’s Recovery After a Severe Injury

Luna arrived at the VEG ER after being injured during a fight with another dog. Tragically, the fight was broken up using a 6-inch kitchen knife, leaving Luna with 22 stab wounds. Some of the wounds were superficial, while others were deeper, and a few had penetrated her lung space, causing a pneumothorax.

The veterinary team faced the difficult task of assessing and treating the extent of her injuries. They decided to use VETIGEL to manage the bleeding. According to the attending veterinary team, "two of Luna's wounds stopped bleeding almost instantly after applying VETIGEL, and the third slowed significantly." The team noted that the slower response on the third wound was due to insufficient gel being used initially. Using VETIGEL eliminated the need for bulky bandages, which would have been painful for Luna and complicated the healing process.

Luna made a full recovery after her wounds were stabilized and surgically repaired.

In addition to the immediate medical care, VETIGEL Gives helped cover part of the cost of her surgery. We are proud to support animals in need and provide resources that contribute to their recovery and well-being.

Throughout her recovery, Luna was an exceptional patient. The veterinary staff took turns comforting her, often sitting with her in her kennel during her stay.
